Nevis
is nearly circular, with an area of 36 square miles.
A mountain range covers the central part of the island.
Dense, tropical rain forests near the summit of the
mountain contrast with the cultivated, fertile valley
below.
Nevis
is so quiet, it is said, "A coconut falling disturbs
the peace." Crime is virtually nonexistent and
the visitor will discover a friendly welcome, gourmet
dining, charming resorts and inns, and excellent shopping
values. Some of the activities in Nevis are golfing
on the championship 18-hole course, snorkeling in the
clear waters, or beachcombing along the miles of long
sandy beaches.
Hikers
and walkers enjoy the rain forest in Nevis, which starts
just above the Golden Rock Plantation. There are wild
monkeys, exotic flora, huge buttress trees, hanging
vines, lush forest plants and flowers, and a never-ending
display of exotic birds and island wildlife. For those
who prefer to explore on horseback, there is a riding
stable on the island.
